We wanted to highlight again this very interesting article from MyBeautifulJob.com dating back to February 2013, which explains the benefit of an enterprise social network (ESN) within a sales department through Uptoo’s real-life case.

Sales ESN

To summarize: in this article, the author explains that a sales ESN is a “great tool that all sales directors should implement” and then elaborates on the main contributions of the ESN in the daily life of a sales director:

  • First, it allows for content sharing within the company. The author even compares it to a “modern and interactive intranet,” and explains that it’s an exchange tool where everyone can participate in real-time, much faster and more spontaneously than via emails, for example.
  • The author then compares the ESN used at Uptoo to a “Facebook where each employee shares their professional life with others.” He thus expresses the interest with use cases such as: notifying of a new prospecting appointment, or announcing a new client, a recruitment, or other news. The benefit is that the team and management see these updates in real-time and can congratulate each other, “like,” and exchange.
  • Finally, the author explains that the ESN is a true “Team Morale and Cohesion Booster” where everyone can encourage others, motivate them, share, be recognized and congratulated, etc., thus allowing to increase team productivity.

According to the article, the ESN is therefore a way to increase “engagement and enthusiasm at work” (one of the 12 motivation levers for sales representatives) by offering a place for discussion, lightness, and freedom to sales representatives. For the manager, it allows to create proximity with their sales force, to appear modern, to share best practices and methods, to coach, or to facilitate feedback directly after meetings. It is therefore a tool for animating and monitoring sales representatives.

The author concludes by saying that “The ESN is an indispensable tool in the arsenal of a Sales Director who wishes to modernize their management practices.”

Incenteev also offers its enterprise social network dedicated to sales communities! In addition to the features described in Uptoo’s case, Incenteev has developed a complete platform allowing you to launch sales challenges in a few clicks, share and communicate in real-time, foster skill-sharing, and also value and reward all team members simply and effectively!

Have you implemented an ESN in your sales department? If so, are you satisfied with it? If not, what do you see as the obstacles to its implementation?
