Team Management
Not everyone is cut out to be a leader. And sometimes companies make mistakes by appointing a manager to lead the department.

A study conducted by The American Psychological Association revealed that 75% of employees didn’t leave their job but their boss.

Thus, if a company doesn’t have the right person in team management, it will certainly affect the company’s employee turnover rate, as well as employees’ attitudes towards the company.

But how can you be a good leader? How can you effectively motivate your team?
Incenteev gives you some tips to achieve this.

Team Management: how Does a Good Leader Motivate Their Team?

There are many things a manager can do that will demotivate their employees. So, you need to be very attentive to your surroundings and get to know your employees.

Keeping your team motivated is far from easy. Not everyone has the strength or patience to try to understand everyone. Here are a few tips.

Have “Emotional Intelligence”

Emotional intelligence is one of the most underestimated factors in corporate team management, even though it is widely used in sports, for example. Let’s take the example of a sports coach. During a match, he is able to understand how his players feel, whether they should be replaced or not.

In a company, a manager must act with their team like a coach with their athletes. They must be able to know when they need to be re-motivated, challenged, praised, or even held back.

Be Transparent

Having a culture that encourages transparency is very important. It is vital that your employees are aware of everything that is happening at all times.

To improve your communication, you can very easily set up an enterprise social network, like the one developed by Incenteev. This type of tool allows you to disseminate information in real time and securely.
The clearer your employees’ vision of your company’s strategy, the more engaged they will be in their work.

Admit your Mistakes

Having an “ego-maniacal” manager leads to many very stressful moments in the workplace. But the worst manager would be someone who is not true to themselves or their ideas and is dishonest with their employees. When a manager refuses to admit fault, they prove that they are not capable of leading a team or making important decisions.

A lack of self-questioning can unfortunately lead to a lack of innovation. Indeed, the path to innovation is not straightforward and is fraught with pitfalls. A good manager knows that failure is a possibility and adjusts the path accordingly. A bad manager will only demand that their teams see the path through to the end.

How to Become a Better Leader?

Do you manage a team and want to become a true leader for them? The task is not so easy, but here are three tips that could help you improve.

  • Be honest
  • Delegate effectively
  • Adopt the “positive attitude”

Be Honest

Honesty goes hand in hand with transparency. We mentioned it earlier, but it is truly essential that there is fluid and clear communication between you and your employees, and also among your employees themselves.

A collaborative platform is a very good way to exchange information quickly and in real time, which greatly facilitates internal communication.

Delegate Effectively

When you ask someone to lead a project, make sure it’s the right person for that kind of work. Knowing your employees’ strengths and weaknesses is necessary to assign them tasks accordingly. This will prevent employees from becoming demotivated because they can’t complete a project, or, on the contrary, who feel underestimated.

Adopt the “Positive Attitude”

Don’t worry, we won’t insult you by singing the song of the same name. We simply mean that even if things don’t go the way you hoped, keep your head up. Consider your employees’ mistakes or failures as a way to help them grow, a learning experience.

Always keep in mind what Pierre de Coubertin said: “Every difficulty encountered must be an opportunity for new progress”.
Also use this “positive attitude” to improve working conditions. Don’t hesitate to chat with your colleagues at the coffee machine. Five minutes can be enough to make someone smile, and that person will be even more motivated afterward.

Incenteev allows you to energize your teams all year round by organizing sales challenges.

And you? Do you think you are a good leader?
